Jan D Payne is the author of the Marin Sinclair Navajoland Series–fiction suspense novels set in the Navajo Nation and centered around the exploits of Marin Sinclair–and also including Navajo Police sergeant Justin Blue Eyes, Nuclear Regulatory Commission agent Cullen MacPherson, and Lewis George, spirit guide.

Jan writes from her own story of life in the Four Corners area of the Navajo Nation–riding horseback in the Lukachukai mountains, climbing the mesas, helping her father guide pack-mule trips in the Sangre de Cristo mountains, and spending one memorable summer as an asst. camp cook for a uranium mining company.

She attributes an early interest in writing to a rich history of family lore–including that of a great-great aunt taken captive by Comanche/Kiowa raiders in 1870s Texas.
